Van Lanier, MBA, Enrolled AgentVan Lanier is a Certified Tax Resolution Specialist with 40 years of experience resolving financial and tax problems. His practice area is tax resolution. Van represents businesses and individuals before the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) in matters of collections and appeals. After completing graduate school (MBA in finance), Van completed a three-year post graduate program in tax law and was elected a Fellow of the National Tax Practice Institute. Van is a federally-licensed Enrolled Agent and a member of the National Association of Enrolled Agents, the Virginia Society of Enrolled Agents, and the American Academy of Tax Practice. Van has served his church and community in leadership roles, and is currently a volunteer advocate with the Community Tax Law Project of Virginia. In mid-career, Van was the National Director of Turnaround Consulting for KPMG BayMark. He also served three years as Assistant Director of Congressional Affairs for a financial regulatory agency in Washington, DC. Outside the office, Van has held a Commercial Pilot license since 1970. He has logged over 6,000 hours in 40 different aircraft and is a recipient of the FAA Wright Brothers “Master Pilot” Award.
BJ Lanier, MS, Certified Tax SpecialistBJ Lanier is a Certified Tax Specialist with10 years of experience saving people money by reducing their taxes. His practice area is Tax Reduction Planning and Compliance. BJ works with small business owners and accomplished employees in Northern Virginia and throughout the United States. He also manages our Concierge Tax Service offerings and prepares over 200 tax returns each year. BJ earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree, cum laude, from Shenandoah University and his Master of Science (LIS) degree, with highest honors, from The Catholic University of America. He is a member of the Institute of Business and Finance. Before joining NOVA Accounting, BJ was a project manager for two startup tech companies. Prior to that, he worked for VeriSign Corporation where he traveled extensively in the Philippines, Canada, and the U.S. In a previous life, he was a player and assistant football coach at the high school and collegiate level. He also follows sports car racing and aims to compete in local events in the near future.
